Blowing snow will create near white-out conditions Tuesday

VALLEY – Add snow along with the wind that was already in the forecast.

The National Weather Service office in Valley has now placed southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa in a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Northwest Missouri remains in a wind advisory only until 6 p.m.

Snow and blowing snow is expected, with winds gusting as high as 50 mph. It will cause near whiteout conditions at times. Additional snow accumulations of up to two inches is in the forecast, according to meteorologists.

Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning and evening commutes. Tree branches could fall. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

Meanwhile, a total of 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected in the Omaha metro as a storm moves through Monday night into Tuesday afternoon. 4 to 6 inches of snow and blowing snow is in the forecast for extreme northeast Nebraska.
