NORTH BEND – The Bike Ride Across Nebraska hit North Bend on Tuesday, and bikers are gearing up for a trip to Wayne on Wednesday.
Baseball, good food, and bikers all collided as BRAN made it’s way into the area. The annual journey took a different route this year, beginning in southeast Nebraska and heading into the northeast portion of the state.
The route normally heads from west to east, hitting area communities such as Humphrey and David City.
“You know it’s a blessing and a curse, at the same time. We didn’t get the enrollment this year that we’ve had in the years past, but we see that as a positive because people have really enjoyed the three day and four day option, which we’ve never offered before. And we’ve been able to draw people from 28 states plus Canada,” says Wes Galusha.
The riders got the chance to enjoy a legion baseball game between area teams North Bend and David City, after arriving to their campground, and BRAN President Wes Galusha says the new route has made for a fun experience.
“The people have come into town. They served us dinner, they’ve served us drinks, and the baseball games going on. When we rolled into town, there’s a welcome to town sign on the road. Everyone’s just been really pleased with being here at North Bend.
Following the trip to Wayne, riders will head to Wakefield, where riders will have the option between different routes, with the longest totaling 89 miles.
