SIDNEY – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office in Sidney, Iowa, received new ballistic response kits Tuesday.
Jamie Behrends, who works with Community Based Services to seek emergency preparedness grants, presented Sheriff Kevin Aistrope with 10 ballistic kits and 10 tourniquets for his deputies.
The kits contain first aid items to combat major wounds, such as gunshots, and major lacerations that may occur in active threat situations.
Behrends and Southwest Iowa Home Health also provided the sheriff’s office with AEDs last year.
Sheriff Aistrope said the heart care equipment has been used in numerous life-saving situations and offered his gratitude for the assistance from Behrends and her team.
