Clarinda woman, 27, arrested in SW Iowa drug case

A 27-year-old Clarinda, Iowa, woman was arrested Tuesday in connection with a drug case in southwest Iowa.

A Page County deputy stopped a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse for traffic violations south of Clarinda near Shambaugh around 4:30 p.m., the Page County Sheriff’s Office said.

A Sheriff’s Office dog alerted deputies to the presence of drugs, officials said.

The Sheriff’s Office said the woman was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of prescription drugs; committing prohibited acts; manufacturing and possessing counterfeit substances and simulated controlled substances; driving while her license was suspended; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was also ticketed on suspicion of speeding and operating a vehicle without a registration, officials said.

About 20 grams of methamphetamine, numerous prescription pills, and a scale and other drug paraphernalia were found by deputies, officials said.
