COLUMBUS, Neb. – A Columbus man accused of leading police on a drunken, 15-mile, high speed chase was given probation for his crime.
37-year-old Christopher Sky was sentenced to two and half years of probation last Friday by Judge Robert Steinke after being convicted of felony flight to avoid arrest.
According to police and court records, in mid-November a speeding Sky refused a police order to pull over and instead sped up—hitting speeds over 100 MPH along Highway 81 until his car wound up in a ditch where Sky was slumped over and bleeding from the wrist.
Police say he told them he injected “a large amount of methamphetamine.”
He was originally charged with DUI, and other misdemeanors, but those were eventually dropped.
Sky will also have his license suspended for two years.
