BEATRICE – A short pursuit by Gage County and Beatrice Police officers Wednesday, ended with the arrest of a 33-year-old male driver.
Sheriff’s authorities say a deputy observed traffic violations on a maroon 2018 Hyundai Sonata in the area of 19th and Dorsey, at about 6:17 p.m.
A deputy attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle at South 1st and Sargent Road. The driver failed to yield for the deputy’s siren and emergency lights, leading the deputy on a pursuit through the City of Beatrice. A city police officer joined in the pursuit and the driver was stopped in an alley, in the nine-hundred-block of North 10th.
33-year-old David Barrett was arrested on suspicion of fleeing to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving-second offense, refusal to submit to alcohol testing and third offense driving under the influence.
