Crab Orchard Woman Accused Of Forging Husband’s Name

TECUMSEH – A former Crab Orchard woman is charged in Johnson County court on allegations she forged her estranged husband’s signature to gain title to a vehicle.

Prosecutors say Trudi M. Tagart, 51, violated vehicle title laws when she pretended her husband was waiting outside of the county treasurer’s office and forged his signature to have his name removed from the title to a Jeep Wrangler.

Tagart had title to the Jeep before she married Casey Tagart in 2008, but the title was put in his name when he paid off of disputed credit card loan on the vehicle.

An arrest affidavit says a handwriting expert working the Lincoln Police Department indicated that Casey Tagart did not sign the title transfer, but Trudi Tagart probably did.
Trudi Tagart filed for divorce in September.
