COLUMBUS – Columbus area residents were offered the chance to learn more about diabetes and issues surrounding it, at the 14th Annual Diabetes Awareness Day.
Columbus Community Hospital Dietician and Certified Diabetes Educator Joan Plummer says the event featured several informational booths, as well as speakers and nutritionists. Attendees could also receive additional blood and glucose screenings, or receive a bone density test, says Plummer.
“I think it’s been a good event, and it seems like this year we had more people than we did last year. It’s a community event, so we want anyone in the community to come, and just learn about it, it’s not just for people with diabetes,” says Plummer.
The event ran from 3:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus Wellness Center on the north side of town. Plummer says if anyone has questions about diabetes, or issues surrounding it, contact her at 402-562-4462.
