Drugs Suspected In Separate Syracuse Accidents

NEBRASKA CITY – Otoe County sheriff’s deputies say the investigation into a car crash in Syracuse on Monday led to a methamphetamine arrest.

Deputies arrested 49-year-old Chad Svoboda of Syracuse after finding 5.5 grams of meth in a car that had left the roadway and hit mailboxes near Third and Park streets.

Court records say a search of Svoboda’s undergarments at the Otoe County Jail revealed a second bag containing 1.8 grams of suspected meth.

Deputies arrested a 34-year-old man Wednesday after a separate traffic accident near Oak Street.

Deputies were dispatched on a report of a car driving through yards and into a field. A man, who was found after he climbed a tree at the edge of the field, told investigators he had a “bad high” after using meth.

No meth was found, but a driving under the influence of drugs charge has been filed.
