COLUMBUS – Police say multiple factors played a part in a drunk driver crashing into a downtown Columbus restaurant.
Columbus Police reports say, a 30-year-old man was speeding in a 2006 Ford Mustang northbound on 26th Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the east side of Gottberg Restaurant. CPD say alcohol, weather conditions, excessive speed, and road conditions were all a factor in the accident.
The driver had a blood alcohol level of .133 at the time of the crash and damage to the brick building was estimated at $500, while the Mustang was totaled, says reports.
The driver was cited and jailed for 1st offense driving under the influence, says CPD reports.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:34 a.m. Sunday morning, and the DUI arrest was one of five that police made on Sunday, says reports.
