“Dust Flies” As Police Track Down Meth Suspect

NEBRASKA CITY – Two Nebraska City residents were arrested Saturday afternoon after a ziplock bag was found full of methamphetamine in a car the driver had abandoned during a police chase.

Trace Schmitz, 21, is charged with possession with intent to deliver and Jamie McGinnis, 53, is charged with possession.

An arrest affidavit says police attempted a traffic stop after noticing a Ford Focus with expired license plates. Police report seeing “dust fly” as the car accelerated and turned near 11th Corso and 13th Street.

The car was found with McGinnis in the passenger seat and the driver’s door open. Police later stopped Schmitz at gunpoint across the railroad tracks and a wooded area of South Table Creek.

Police say over 26 grams of meth was found in the car, which is considered to over 100 uses.
