Early Morning House Fire Causes No Injuries

BEATRICE – No one was injured in a Wednesday morning house fire, in north Beatrice.

Firefighters were sent to 15-oh-eight North 12th, just before seven a.m., encountering smoke coming from the roof of the structure.   Beatrice Fire Chief Brian Daake says the woman who lives there, was not at home at the time the fire broke out.

A state fire investigator was brought to the scene, to examine the cause of the fire, which started in the kitchen area.

There was extensive fire damage to the kitchen, smoke damage to the upper area and some heat damage to the living room area.  The main fire damage was to the northeast portion of the house.  Daake says the loss was estimated to be $15,000 to the structure, about $4,000 loss to contents.

About a dozen firefighters were there.

Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to vent smoke and hot gases.  Officials hooked to a hydrant less than a block north, at 12th and Carlyle.

The home is located along the east side of 12th Street.
