NIOBRARA – While it may be outside the path of totality, there will still be plenty to do on eclipse day in Niobrara.
State park officials are planning their own eclipse event at the second picnic shelter. Park staff will be broadcasting the NASA Mega Cast of the event, while there will be viewing glasses and other ways for attendees to view the 95% eclipse from Niobrara.
“People can listen and learn about [the full eclipse] while watching the partial eclipse here at Niobrara State Park,” said
Burney said the Niobrara and Verdigre schools will be bringing hundreds of students to their event, and says the public is welcome to come as well. Burney says the idea is to give as many people as possible an immersive eclipse experience.
“We know that not everyone in the region is going to make it down to totality, so we want to make an observing experience that’s worthwhile,” Burney said.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 21st.
