Falls City Council Approves 2017 Road Plans

FALLS CITY – The city is planning four road construction projects in 2017.

A 750 foot concrete stretch on 33rd street, from highway 73 to Barada street is the first priority of the plan.

The city also is looking to extend Abbott street north, from 28th street to tie into a new 31st street. The project is around 900 feet of road and includes a concrete road, grading and curb work. The estimated cost of that project is $225,000.

The city also has plans to lay asphalt on 705 trail from HWY 73 to Fulton Street for $50,000.

The final priority of the plan for 2017 is improvements to old highway 73 from 28th street to 35th street, with an estimated cost of $105,000.

The total cost of the 2017 projects is $380,000.

The city council approved the plan on a 7-0 vote.

City administrator Gary Jorn also mentioned that many different areas in town are set to receive minor maintenance in the next 2-3 years.
