NEBRASKA CITY – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the deadline for public entities and some non-profits to request public assistance grants linked to flooding this spring. The new deadline is May 20.
An April 20 deadline had been set, but is extended due to the magnitude of the disaster and continuing response.
Public assistance is the largest of FEMA’s grant programs and can provide up to 75 percent of debris removal and repair of public facilities.
Currently 65 Nebraska counties qualify for the program.
