Glenwood man, 20, arrested in connection with car theft, crash in the Bluffs

A 20-year-old Glenwood, Iowa, man was arrested early Thursday in Council Bluffs in connection with a car theft, fleeing from officers and a crash.

Bluffs police said:

Around 2 a.m. they attempted to stop a 2000 Honda Accord in northeast Council Bluffs, but the vehicle fled.

Officers ended their pursuit after a short distance, when the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

The Honda had been reported stolen in Saunders County, Nebraska

Later, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Avenue C over the Honda striking a parked pickup. The driver abandoned the Accord and fled on foot.

The man was arrested in the area of 16th Street and Avenue D, a few blocks east of where the incident began.

He was booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail on suspicion of theft, eluding arrest, leaving the scene of a property-damage crash, no driver’s license, driving the wrong direction on a one-way street and possession of a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles), police said.
