High Speed Chase Ends Near Missouri Border

SIDNEY – Fremont County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hamburg man Sunday following a high-speed chase.

Sheriff Kevin Aistrope said deputies were checking on a report that a GMC Sierra was parked in the middle of 240th Avenue north of Hamburg around 1 a.m. early Sunday morning.

The sheriff says the vehicle took off as deputies approached and reached speeds of 96 mph while deputies pursued.

The pursuit led to a low-maintenance road and the GMC came to a stop near the Missouri and Iowa border.

Deputies arrested Zachary Spears, 27, of Hamburg. He was taken to the Fremont County Law Enforcement Center, where he posted bond and was released.
