Jake Braking Prompts Complaints To Syracuse City Council

SYRACUSE – Jake braking, a mechanical system installed in some diesel engines and used for trucks and semi-trailers, is becoming an issue in the Syracuse city limits.

City Councilwoman Deb Dettmer told the city council Wednesday she has received several complaints about the loud noise associated with engine compression braking.

Trucks are using the brakes through Syracuse, as well as the off ramps to Highway 2.
