Late Night Chase in Beatrice Ends With One Arrest

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested one person and are looking for two others, following a brief chase late last night.

The pursuit began last night at about 11:20, in the seven-hundred-block of West Mary Street.  Chief Bruce Lang says officers were led to that location after they had been investigating a shoplifting incident at the local Walmart Store.

Later in the evening, police located the suspected driver walking in the three-hundred block of Ella.  The female suspect, who had an active warrant for her, was arrested. The vehicle was found in the four-hundred block of Washington Street and impounded by police.

Lang says police are searching for a male who fled on foot from the vehicle and believe a third person was in the vehicle.

During the chase, the vehicle ran a couple of stop signs but did not hit any other vehicles or pedestrians.  No injuries were reported.

The female arrested by police is identified as 21-year-old Kendra Barnts, booked on suspicion of driving under revocation, flight to avoid arrest, resisting arrest and false reporting.  Gage County Court records indicate she had two active warrants from Jefferson County.  When she was arrested, police recovered a purse believed to have been stolen from the Beatrice Walmart Store.
