Lofing Enters Plea To Charge Linked To Sex With Juvenile

NEBRASKA CITY – A former teacher in Weeping Water and Nebraska City schools entered a no contest plea in Otoe County Court Monday to a charge prosecutors linked to having sex with a juvenile last July.

Deputy Otoe County Attorney John Palmtag said the Cass County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in January involving a run-away. Palmtag said the investigation uncovered allegations of sex between Lofing and a juvenile at her Nebraska City residence.

Defense Attorney Desirae M. Solomon of Omaha said the allegations against Lofing do not involve the run-away, but another person.

Lofing, who had worked as an English teacher for the Weeping Water schools from 2013 to 2016, began working at the Nebraska City Middle School in 2016. She resigned in February.

Judge John Steinheider set a $5,000 signature bond and scheduled sentencing on July 17.
