NEBRASKA CITY – Susan Lorence of Plattsmouth had a lead in Otoe County over incumbent Robert Clements for a state Legislature seat, but Clements prevailed by six votes.
Lorence, a telecommunications analyst, lead by 16 votes with all of Nebraska City counted. The last precincts from Syracuse and Burr helped put Clements back on top.
Clements is a banker in Elmwood, where he graduated high school. Gov. Pete Ricketts appointed him to to the Legislature in 2017, after Bill Kintner resigned.
Lorence campaigned door-to-door in Nebraska City over the Arbor Day weekend. She called for sensible budgeting and tax relief for middle class families.
