Man Injured Trying To Catch Run-Away Grain Truck

WEEPING WATER – Cass County Sheriff William Brueggemann reports a pedestrian accident involving a grain truck.

Paramedics were called to Holdrege Street, where 74-year-old Dolly Crandall had parked a grain truck to take on grain from a grain hopper.

Crandall did not set the parking brake before exiting the vehicle and the truck started to roll.

65-year-old Steve Lingle of Weeping Water ran to catch up to the truck and attempted to jump onto the side step, but lost his footing and fell.

The sheriff says he was run over by the tandem axle of the truck, as the truck continued into the harvested field.

Lingle was transported by LifeNet to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha with a compound leg fracture and possible internal injuries.
