Man Says Stolen Cash Cards Were To Bail His Mom From Jail

NEBRASKA CITY – A 24-year-old man is suspected of entering  his mother’s Nebraska City residence to gather items needed to bail her out of jail.

Police say Jarrett Nelson, 24, was in possession of cash cards his mother reported as stolen. An arrest affidavit also says Nelson had $2,000 in cash and methamphetamine on Wednesday.

On the following day, His mother, who is charged with distribution of meth, posted a $5,000 bond provision for her release.

Nelson is previously charged with possession on Jan. 13. He is also scheduled for pre-trial in district court on allegations of domestic assault and possession on Dec. 6. He was released on a $1,000 bond provision.

Prior to his arrest Wednesday, Nelson told police he was just about to call police to turn in illegal items that he had removed from the house. He said police had missed the items when the house was searched on Feb. 20.
