Man Wanted In Iowa Arrested On Multiple Charges

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Police Department arrested a man wanted out of Iowa on Thursday morning.

The man was identified as 19-year-old Benito Hernandez, and was wanted for sex offender registry violation as well as probation violation in Iowa. Hernandez and another 17-year-old male caused altercations with police officers upon arrival, and were arrested on multiple charges.

Hernandez was additionally charged with felony flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, 3rd degree assault of an officer, false reporting, resisting arrest, and misdemeanor criminal mischief. The 17-year-old male was transported to Madison, and was charged with obstructing an officer.
