March Trial Date Set For Former Nebraska City Preacher

NEBRASKA CITY – District Judge Julie Smith has scheduled a March 25 trial  for a former pastor of the Apostolic Christian Ministries in Nebraska City.

70-year-old Larry Mullins has entered not guilty pleas to multiple counts of sexual assault of a child. Allegations say the assaults began when the alleged victim was six or seven years old. Prosecutors say the assaults date back to 2014 and charge intentional child abuse in March of 2018.

The trial date was set Wednesday after attorneys told the judge a settlement had not been reached in the case.

The court earlier granted  Otoe County Attorney David Partsch’s petition to allow him to introduce testimony at trial from a second alleged victim. The court denied a defense motion to call Partsch as a witness to tell the jury why he did not file charges in 2009,  when the other alleged victim came forward.

Judge Smith scheduled a hearing on a defense motion to allow Mullins to attend a private dentist prior to trial.
