More Details on Intersection Accident in Pawnee County

BEATRICE – More information has been released on an accident between a pickup and semi-trailer truck, Wednesday afternoon.

The collision happened at the junction of Nebraska Highways 4 and 99, north of Burchard.

The Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office reports the driver of the pickup, 82-year-old Robert Russell, of Beatrice, was life-flighted to Bryan LGH West Medical Center in Lincoln.   His condition is not known.  A passenger in his pickup was also injured.

Sheriff’s officials say the driver of the semi-trailer truck was 40-year-old James Portrey, of Pawnee City, an employee of Pawnee County.  Portrey sustained injuries in the accident, but his condition is not known.

No information was available on which direction each vehicle was traveling.  Pawnee County law officers were notified of the accident at 2:41 p.m., Wednesday.

A Nebraska State Patrol accident reconstruction team was sent to the scene.
