Motorists Escape Injury in Jefferson County Highway Crash

BEATRICE – Both drivers escaped injury in a highway collision at the north junction of Nebraska Highways 4 and 15, Saturday morning.

Jefferson County Sheriff Nels Sorensen says the county’s dispatch center received a call reporting the accident, at around 7:43 a.m.

Deputies investigating the collision believe a vehicle driven by Alex Paus of Fairfield was turning south from Highway 4 onto Highway 15, and allegedly failed to yield for another vehicle.  The vehicle driven by Paus was struck by one driven by Donald Northcott, of Raymond.

The collision caused the Paus vehicle to roll several times, coming to rest on a gravel road, just east of Highway 15.  The vehicle driven by Northcott came to rest in the east ditch, off Nebraska 15.

Neither driver was injured.  Sorensen says Paus was cited for failure to yield.

Along with Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies, Daykin Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of the accident.
