Nebraska City Man Arrested on Drug Charge Hours After Buying New Car

NEBRASKA CITY – A Nebraska City man was jailed on weapon and drug charges after a car his mom had help purchase hours earlier was stopped by police.

Austin Hickey, 20, was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of possession of a Kel Tec .9 mm pistol and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

An arrest affidavit says a search of Hickey’s Chrysler 300 yielded several plastic bags, including one with 40 grams of marijuana.

An arrest affidavit says the Chrysler 300 he was driving near Fourth Street and Sixth Avenue had in-transit stickers. The car had been purchased earlier that day.

Hickey informed the officer about the gun in the waistband of his pants.
