District One Chief Probation Officer, Jeremy Behrends

BEATRICE – This past year the District One State Probation Office began serving an adjusted territory.

The southeast Nebraska district picked up Otoe County, while Nuckolls and Clay Counties were moved to District Ten.

Chief Probation Officer Jeremy Behrends, who gave a report to Gage County officials, says the change added seven staff members for District One probation.

The reporting center model in Beatrice is being used to help start the center in Nebraska City.  Behrends says the district could also get a new drug court, to add to the one based in Saline County.

District Judge Vicky Johnson presides over the Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court.  Behrends says Judge Julie Smith, who presides in the eastern area of District One, is wanting to begin a drug court there.  Five counties have given approval for the court.
