Paving Work Progress Being Seen in Beatrice

BEATRICE – A new road surface has been installed on North 5th Street in Beatrice, on the stretch near the Beatrice Post Office, Beatrice Middle School and Carnegie Building.  New asphalt has been installed on High Street, as well.

Mayor Stan Wirth says that was a high priority project, with the new school year approaching.  Pavers Inc., of Waverly was hired by the city to resurface several sections of asphalt streets this summer.

This week, the brick portion of North 2nd Street was removed, next to the Gage County Historical Museum.   A brick surface will be re-installed.

Some of the bricks removed from the section were likely to be damaged, but the mayor says the city has some spares.

Curb and gutter construction is expected to begin soon on the stretch of North 2nd Street between Ella and Grant, where a new concrete surface will be installed.
