PERU, Neb. – The Peru State Foundation and Athletic Department are partnering to recognize all veterans this Saturday, Nov. 11, as part of its football game with Benedictine (Kan.).
All military members will receive free admission and parking for Saturday’s game which will begin at 1 p.m. in the historic Oak Bowl on the campus of Peru State. Military members and their families are invited to the Oak Bowl Hospitality Suites during the game.
A halftime program will include recognition of senior cheerleaders and a Millard North twirling duo performing to patriotic music. In addition, several Peru State alumni will be honored on the field, representing their respective branches.
Those confirmed as representing their branch of service are Tim “Sarge” Gilligan – Class of 1967 – Gretna – Army; Ron Nolte – Class of 1970 – Plattsmouth – Marines; Gayle Martin – Class of 1992 – Peru – Navy; and Keri Wilhelm – Current Peru State student and employee – Shubert – National Guard.
Football game attendees will enter Peru seeing flags lining Park Avenue.
Prior to the contest, the Bobcat football seniors will be honored.
The Tracy Bates Post 370 of Elk Creek will present the colors and Amy Mincer, Secretary to the President, will have the honor of singing the national anthem.
