Pickrell Man in Critical Condition, Following Dirt Bike Accident

BEATRICE – A Pickrell man was hospitalized in critical condition after his dirt bike collided with a pickup Saturday, five miles northeast of Pickrell.

Gage County Sheriffs’ deputies say 22-year-old Dirk Akeson was taken by Beatrice Fire and Rescue to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, and later transferred to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

The accident happened at about 7:20 p.m., Saturday.  Akeson was riding a dirt bike south on South 38th Road, when he collided with an eastbound pickup driven by 27-year-old Dillon Wallman, of Adams.  Akeson was ejected from the bike in the collision.  Wallman was not injured.

Rescue personnel from Cortland, Clatonia and Pickrell also responded to the scene of the accident.
