Omaha, NE.—Testimony is continuing in the police brutality trial of a fired Omaha police officer.
Scotty Payne is one of two former officers charged with assault in the 2017 death of Zachary Bear Heels.
Payne, who is appealing his firing, is charged with 2nd degree felony assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
The trial also finds police response to a man suffering from mental illness a key issue.
As News Channel Nebraska’s Joe Jordan shows us, video of repeated Tasering and punching is among the prosecution’s strongest evidence.
