Police Say Versteeg’s Scale Had Meth Residue

NEBRASKA CITY – Police arrested Bryan Versteeg, 26, of Nebraska City on Saturday on warrants out of Otoe County court and a suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.

Arrest warrants were issued when Versteeg failed to appear June 11 for non-payment on a $300 fine for attempted possession of meth. There was another active warrant for failure to appear on a paraphernalia charge in April.

Court records say police found 21 separate bags and scale in his backpack. A field test identified residue on the scale as methamphetamine.

An arrest affidavit says Versteeg told police the items in his backback do not belong to him, but were found somewhere. He told police he does not sell narcotics.

Versteeg served 90 days in jail in 2017 for resisting arrest.
