Preliminary Hearing Set, in Beatrice Drug, Weapon Case

BEATRICE – A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a man facing gun and drug charges in Gage County.

A judge set February 25th for the preliminary hearing of 36-year-old Jason Sanchez, of Beatrice.  He is charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a weapon during commission of a felony, delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of money to facilitate drug distribution.

If convicted of all counts, Sanchez faces up to 124 years in prison.   His appearance bond is set at $100,000.

Sanchez was arrested January 25th after a SWAT unit served a search warrant on a Market Street residence, in Beatrice.  Authorities had been conducting narcotics surveillance prior to the search.  Sanchez is suspected of possessing a handgun and conducting a drug transaction with two females, for methamphetamine.

Sanchez was convicted of a felony in July of 2017 and court records show he was serving a probation sentence, at the time of his arrest.  He is being represented by the Gage County Public Defender’s Office.
