Richardson County Saves Over $100K in Health Insurance Switch

FALLS CITY – The Richardson County Board made a couple of key financial decisions on Tuesday.

The board switched county health insurance providers, going from Blue Cross Blue Shield to Aetna. According to County Clerk Mark Eickhoff, the move will save over $127,000 annually.

The county insurance committee recommended the plan. It has a $1,500 deductible and is effective July 1st.

The board also approved the appraisal of 424 commercial properties in Richardson County at a cost of $78,440. Stanard Appraisal Services Inc. in Central City will conduct the appraisals, which are priced at $185 per parcel. County Accessor Pam Vice was at the meeting to finalize the deal with the board.

The service will provide protest representation as well.

The properties being appraised only includes ones in Falls City and Humboldt, not commercial properties in rural Richardson County.
