School Prepares Court Defense In Pedestrian Accident Suit

FALLS CITY – The Falls City School Board has hired Knudsen Law Firm to defend the school district in a civil case filed in Richardson County District Court claiming the school was negligent when a student was hit by a car in 2017.

The lawsuit says eighth grader Steven Riggs had $33,000 in medical expenses and suffers from permanent injury when he was hit by a car on his way from the middle school to track practice at the high school.

The lawsuit contends that the school has a duty to supervise students as they travel between school functions.
The lawsuit also says the driver of the car at the intersection of Fulton and 15th Streets is also negligent.
