Shaw Hardware Embraces Building’s Historical Facade

PLATTSMOUTH – The Owners of Shaw Hardware in Plattsmouth are working with the city’s Historic Preservation Board for façade improvements of the building at 433 Main.

The 136-year-old building, historically known as a grocery store in the Waterman Building, is proposed for a second-story remodeling into office and work space.

Façade work includes preserving the metal cornice and window hoods and restoring the transom windows. The lower window will be replaced with a historically appropriate material.

A $61,000 loan through the block grant program is proposed for the $85,000 project.

The council also considered an ATV ordinance.

Rules include operating of ATVs and utility vehicles only during daylight hours. Vehicles must have a safety flag and passengers must wear helmets. The vehicles can not cross a controlled access highway.
