BEATRICE – A half-dozen liquor license applications or upgrades have been recommended for approval by the Beatrice City Council.
Public hearings were held on the license applications, before the council Monday night.
Casey’s General Stores is seeking an upgrade to a class D license for it’s convenience stores on South 6th, North 6th, East Court and West Court. Staab PH Units is seeking a class C license for the Beatrice Pizza Hut Restaurant. Colleen and John Schoneweis, doing business as Vintage Venue at 620 Court, are seeking a class I (eye) license.

City Administrator Tobias Tempelmeyer, explaining the classifications. There was no public input given during any of the hearings, Monday night, and the council recommended Nebraska Liquor Commission approval of the applications, voting unanimously on each.
In other action, city officials approved the closing of Court Street from 8 am until noon for this summer’s Homestead Days Parade in Beatrice, which is scheduled for June 23rd. Court will be blocked off for the parade route between 3rd and 19th Streets. Elected officials also granted permission to the Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce to sell goods on city property during Homestead Days, June 20th through the 24th. The permission covers Charles Park and 5th Street from Court to High Street.
