Southeast Community College to Kick Off Community Forums

BEATRICE – Southeast Community College will be kicking off a series of forums in the school’s 15-county service area, to get input from citizens about their education needs.

College President Dr. Paul Illich says it’s a chance to get feedback about the community college’s future direction.

The college is set to unveil a new SCC marketing logo on March 29th, the same day a groundbreaking is planned for a new Diesel Technology Program building on the Milford Campus of the college.  Tuesday, a groundbreaking for a new classroom building on the Beatrice Campus was postponed, because of wet conditions.  Progress continues on new student residential facilities at Beatrice and Milford, and on a new dining hall on the Beatrice Campus.

Tuesday, the SCC Board of Governors approved spending up to $800,000 to furnish the new student residence halls at Beatrice and Milford.

SCC is also upgrading its Dental Assisting Program.

College Board members were told Tuesday during a meeting at the Beatrice Campus that SCC’s Graduation Report for 2018 has been completed.  It shows a 94% success rate of students either gaining employment or going on to complete their college education, after two years at SCC.

SCC reported it has 1,402 graduates this past year.  Of those, 1,011 are employed and 302 are continuing their post-secondary education.  About 90-percent of those employed are working in their field of study….with most remaining in Nebraska and within the SCC 15-county service area.
