NEBRASKA CITY – A 90-minute standoff with police ended peacefully in Nebraska City Monday night.
Police responded to a disturbance call on 11th Street and believed a 58-year-old man had barricade himself into a room of a residence there.
A two-block portion of the street was closed to traffic as officers attempted to negotiate with the man to come out of the house. After an hour and a half, the man surrendered without incident. He was transported to a mental health facility.
Police Chief David Lacy said a large cache of weapons, including a dozen guns, was removed from the house.
