Syracuse Approves Sand Volleyball Courts

SYRACUSE – The Syracuse City Council voted unanimously to spend $10,800  for two sand volleyball courts to be placed east of the ballfields at the Syracuse ball complex.

Another new  addition to the ball complex will be a new batting cage provided by the the Bruce Hassler memorial fund  the city’s remaining playground funds.

The city council also discussed possible uses for the three acre, empty lot that is west of the soccer field. This lot will hold the Germanfest concert in July, ideas for continued uses for that property are being discussed.

The waterwell field south of Syracuse was focus of discussion with  Anthony Fitzgerald of USDA  rural development.

Fitzgerald  offered the mayor and  council recommendations for moving forward. He said  Syracuse is on the leading edge because most communities the size of Syracuse do not have the funds for this type of water security for their towns.
