Syracuse Germanfest Committee Plans Country Concert

NEBRASKA CITY – Otoe County commissioners approved road closings July 14 for the Germanfest concert that headlines country music singer Aaron Watson.

Doug Beach said the Germanfest Committee decided to replace the street dance with the concert  in hopes of bringing more people to town for activities throughout the weekend.

The ribfest begins at 5 p.m. Saturday and   will flow into the concert west of the ball complex through 9:30 p.m.

Beach: “We just think it will bolster a lot things in Syracuse and hopefully draw people to Syracuse that will maybe think about living in town and supporting our community. That’s what it’s really all about.”

Watson’s album The Underdog debuted on top of country charts and his album Vaquero features the country hit Diamonds & Daughters. His first major radio airplay hit was “Outta Style.”

Beach: “Since we got the contract with him going, he has becoming more popular. That’s kind of a neat thing. He’s an up-and-comer and this guy told us he was an up-and-comer, so we’re pretty excited about having him there.”

Lucas Minor, whose Facebook page describes him as an old-school country singer from Murray, is the opening act.
