Syracuse Man Accused Of Strangulation In Domestic Assault

NEBRASKA CITY – Otoe County sheriff deputies arrested a 38-year-old Syracuse man on July 3 for suspicion of strangulation.

Dustin Burton is accused of taking hold of a woman’s throat during an assault at a Second Street residence in Syracuse. An arrest affidavit said the hold was applied while the woman was standing and after she went to the ground.

Deputies made contact with the alleged victim at the Syracuse Hospital. Multiple, non-disabling injuries were reported.

The woman told investigators she was able to escape the residence by offering to bring Burton some whiskey-based liquor called Southern Comfort.
