Syracuse Seeks New Leader For Parks and Recreation

SYRACUSE – The Syracuse City Council may select a new leader for its parks and recreation departments at tonight’s meeting.

The city has typically had managers for its parks department and its recreation department, including the pool.

The new position would supervise both departments and report directly to the mayor and city council.

The parks and recreation manager will coordinate activities with the pool and park staff, review policies and budgets proposed by the mayor and have responsibility for the pool.

The existing parks manager John Baugous will continue his duties, but the city is expected to fill a full-time employee position for the care of Park Hill Cemetery.
