Taco Truck Altercation Ends With Strangulation Charge

COLUMBUS – A fight that started outside a taco truck and ended at a local residence, resulted in one man facing charges for strangulation and assault.

An arrest affidavit states that a witness told police an altercation started, when Cale Johnson, 31, reached through a car window and slapped his roommate across the face. The roommate then allegedly drove to their home on 28th Street, leaving Johnson behind at 10th Avenue.

After walking home, Johnson allegedly began fighting his roommate, and putting him in a rear naked chokehold. At this time, police arrived and separated the two men.

Johnson is charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault by mutual consent.  Strangulation carries a maximum sentence of up to 5 years and prison and a $10,000 fine.

Johnson has a felony status hearing scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on Thursday. The altercation took place on July 9th.
