Teaching Academy Qualifies Substitute Teachers

PERU – The Southeast Nebraska Teaching Academy is hoping to relieve a teacher shortage by training substitute teachers.

The academy has already expanded the pool of eligible substitute teachers with 22 certificates from the Nebraska Department of Education.

Peru State College students who complete the courses can earn money on days they are not attending class on campus.

Madison Panko, a student that has completed SENTA, writes “The SENTA class is a great way to prepare teacher candidates for when they become teachers in their own classroom. This class teaches you classroom management skills as well as best practices as a teacher.”
