Tecumseh Man Accused Of Sexual Assault Days After Jail Time

TECUMSEH – A Tecumseh man is charged with sexual assault of a child days after he was released from jail.

Johnson County deputies arrested 19-year-old Brandon Stafford on April 28 on allegations that he slashed the tires on his mother’s vehicle and threatened her and his sister.

He was released from custody on May 7 after posting $1 on a personal recognizance bond.

Two days later, deputies were called to the Johnson County Hospital where a mother called deputies to report possible sexual assault of a three-year-old girl.

The woman told police Stafford had been babysitting to earn some money, but her three-year-old made odd statements that were investigated by the Child Advocacy Center.

Bond for Stafford has been set with a $10,000 provision. He is scheduled for arraignment June 18.
