NEBRASKA CITY – Two candidates have filed for the first district seat on the Otoe County Board of Commissioners.
Robert Earll, a Nebraska City Fire and Rescue paramedic and owner of BobbyScott BBQ, is seeking the Democratic nomination.
James Thurman, owner of Thurman’s Bike & Sport, is seeking the Republican nomination.
First District Commissioner Ron Hauptman has until Feb. 15 to file for re-election.
Also seeking election to the county board are second district commissioner Rick Freshman and third district commissioner Jerad Sornson. Sornson is challenged by Alton Bruns of Nebraska City.
There are four vacancies on Nebraska City School Board and incumbent Kent Blum is the only filing to date.
