Two Rear-End Collisions Start With Deer On Bay Road

PLATTSMOUTH – Cass County Sheriff William Brueggemann reports two rear-end collisions that started with a deer on Bay Road north of Plattsmouth.

Deputies responded along with Plattsmouth Fire and EMS at 5:51 p.m. Saturday to multiple accidents that began when 21-year-old Ashley Bratic of Plattsmouth stuck a deer on Bay Road.

Her 2007 Ford Fusion was then rear-ended by a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 16-year-old Kira Capps of Bellevue.

After the first accident, 36-year-old Matthew Downing of Papillion was also westbound in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, and had slowed for the previous accident.

He was rear-ended by a 2002 Toyota Camry being driven by 80-year-old Gaylene A. Johnson of Plattsmouth.

Bratic was transported by Plattsmouth EMS to Bellevue Medical Center with minor injuries. Capps was cited for following too closely. Seat belts were in use.
